France is a country in western Europe. It borders Spain, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Andorra, Switzerland and Italy. France is known for hosting the French Open on clay every May and June.

France's capital, Paris, was hit a lot in November 2015 by the attacks.

Sports

France's most popular sport is football. The France national football team won the FIFA World Cup at home in 1998; and also made it to the final in 2006, facing Italy and 2018. France successfully hosted UEFA Euro 2016; but in November 2015 the attacks in Paris would have lost France rights to host the 2016 European Championship, and however it didn't.

The France women's national football team has been a rising superstar in Europe since finishing fourth at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. France will host the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup and were one of the first teams to qualify for UEFA Women's Euro 2017 with a win over Ukraine. Additionally, France finished fourth at the 2012 Olympics women's football tournament; losing to Canada in the bronze medal game and lost against them again in 2016.
