Dominika Cibulková-Navara (born May 6, 1989; known on the WTA Tour as Cibulková and the BATC World Tour as Navara) is a former Slovak tennis player. At 5 ft 3 inches tall, she was considered to be one of the shortest players at the WTA tour.

She shocked the tennis world, as the no.20 seed, by making the 2014 Australian Open final, but lost to Li Na in straight sets.

Cibulková's career high-singles ranking is 4, which happened after her shock victory over Angelique Kerber at the final at the 2016 WTA Finals. She reached no.4 in 2017. Her career-high doubles ranking is only 59th, which was achieved on 13 August 2012.

Cibulková announced her retirement from tennis in November 2019, citing injuries. It forced her out of the WTA Tour after her loss to Aryna Sabalenka in round 1 at the 2019 French Open.

Early life

Dominika Cibulková was born on May 6, 1989 in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia (which is now Slovakia). Cibulková started playing tennis at a young age.

Career

2009: First Grand Slam semifinal

Cibulková made her first semifinal at a Grand Slam level by defeating comeback player Maria Sharapova 6-0 6-2 in the quarterfinals. She would then lose to Dinara Safina, the top seed.

2016: Katowice Champion and resurgence in singles

She won the 2016 Katowice Open title, defeating Camila Giorgi who was playing her third straight Katowice Open final. After the match she rose to No.38 in the world.

Cibulkova was at one point in 2016 ranked no.66 in the world.

Every match that Cibulková played in Madrid mostly went to three sets, with the exception of the semifinals. At Madrid, she defeated No.2 Agnieszka Radwańska in the first round. In the semifinals; playing on her 27th birthday she ended the dreams of American qualifier Louisa Chirico; the first time Cibulkova didn't play three sets at the tournament in Madrid. Cibulková played against Simona Halep in the final, but lost against the Romanian in straight sets.

Cibulková won the title at the 2016 WTA Finals.

2017

Ben and Toad's Contest

It was announced on June 17, 2020, that Cibulková will compete on season 13, three days after giving birth to her first child due to the expansion on the number of competing contestants.

Cibulková's professional dance partner is Vincent Simone.
