Although she won the bronze over Ina Meschik of Austria, she was chosen as a contestant on Ben and Toad's Contest season 5 after Katherine Heigl suffered an injury. She came in third place, after losing to Kummer in disqualification and winning over Ina Meschik. She lost to Tomoka Takeuchi and Patrizia Kummer. She won the bronze medal for the host nation.

Ben and Toad's Contest

Alena Zavarzina will be competing on season 5 as the injury replacement for actress Katherine Heigl, from season 2; announced on the Winter Paralympic closing ceremony. Her partner will be Brendan Cole, a professional dancer from Strictly Come Dancing. Starting season 4 week 4, she participated with the entire cast from season 1; which aired it's opening on September 22, 2012.

Alena Zavarzina was the only snowboarder to make it to BATC 5's halfway point. She would have been fired earlier due to Torah Bright's injury from DWTS Australia. Zavarzina was fired in week 10, popularly due to that SKUSA place where she left Slovakia to play with the Germans.

Zavarzina has been confirmed by the Slovakian team to play for them in the 2016 IndyCar Series season.
