2014 AFC Women's Asian Cup took place in Vietnam from May 14 to May 25, 2014, for teams of Asian Football Confederation. The winners of the tournament are Japan, who won their first title and also the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany. This was served as a 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification to determine who takes the five places to Canada. This was the only FIFA Women's World Cup qualification that took place after the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, but before the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Japan and Australia retained their streak, while China PR qualified for the first time since failing to qualify in 2011, and Korea Republic for the first time since 2003. Thailand will make it's Women's World Cup debut, becoming the first team from Southeast Asia to qualify for a Women's World Cup; despite winning the playoff against Vietnam.
This was the third AFC Women's Asian Cup to feature Australia.
